“The best of South Australia’s property development projects were last night celebrated during a Gala Dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre,with innovative urban infill development and quality design for seniors living recognised for setting new standards. Other top honours presented at the Urban Development Instituteof Australia (UDIA) (SA) Awards for Excellence 2011 included projects committed to improving infrastructure and working closely with communities.
UDIA (SA) President Richard Osborne said this year’s entries have shown innovation and a forward-thinking approach to meeting the housing needs of a growing population. “The winning projects are all making an outstanding contribution to the future of the state and delivering solutions to the challenges of individual projects,”Mr Osborne said.
“The ‘On Statenborough’ Seniors Livings development on the former Cooper’s Brewery site in Leabrook overcame significant obstacles to create innovation in higher density retirement living and was honoured with two awards.

“Developer Forme Projex also took out two awards with both its Aria Apartments and Vespa Apartmentsjudged as impressive examples of city infill developments which offer affordable medium density product while still achieving great functionality and design.” Mr Osborne said this is the third consecutive year Forme Projex has impressed judges.
UDIA (SA) also recognised projects outside of the city with Lanser Communities receiving an award for its Freeling Estate development and the way it worked closely with the local council to improve community facilities for both existing and new residents of this community. The Cape Jaffa Anchorage residential subdivision in the South East was also honoured for an outstanding contribution to the local community.
